Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH) organised the 47th edition of the IHGF from 18-22 February 2019 at the India Expo Mart Centre, Greater Noida. It was a product extravaganza for the Buying Agents, buyers and visitors. It was a special show for BAA, as we launched our first edition of the Handbook/Members Directory with pomp & show. As always, the fair started with great excitement.
This time also the presence of BAA was significantly felt as the booth location provided by EPCH was close to the Registration Counters and gave us immense visibility. BAA had many enquiries and our representatives shared about BAA with all the visitors who visited our booth. Existing BAA Members visited the booth with pride and a sense of belonging.. The foot fall of the overseas buyers was relatively slow on day one of the show, however this gained momentum on all other days.
The second day of the show was surely a milestone in the history of BAA, as BAA launched its first handbook / members directory. The handbook was launched by DC Handicrafts, Mr. Shantmanu. Shri Rakesh Kumar, DG, EPCH & Chairman, IMEL, facilitated the launch in the central area giving BAA an opportunity for a grand launch The day proceeded with regular business at the show. The third and fourth day were also busy and productive for most members.
The last day of the show brought another landmark in the history of BAA, with the signing off of the MOU between BAA and EPCH on Knowledge Seminars. EPCH has designed the curriculum of the Merchandising Management Export and Retail program, under which exporters and buying agents can send their staff for professional skill development, counselling and learning. BAA is partnering with EPCH being the knowledge provider for the program. The institute is known as Handicrafts Productivity Centre and Testing Labs.
Another MOU was also signed in the presence of the Textile Minister Hon Smt. Smriti Zubin Irani at Jaipur function held on 25th February 2019.
With the support of team EPCH, including Mr. Rakesh Kumar, Mr. O P Prahladka, Mr. Siddhartha Tyagi, Mr. Verma, Ms. Nahata and others, the event was successfully concluded.
